How can we help?

Step-by-step guides for everything in KikiGenie. Pick a topic below or browse the full guides.

🚀

Getting started

  1. 1
    Create your account
Download KikiGenie from the App Store or Google Play. Sign up with your email, or continue with Google, Apple, or Facebook. If you sign up with an email address, you'll need to verify it before proceeding.
  2. 2
    Set your location
Pick a home area so we can show you relevant local activities. To change it later, tap the location chip at the top of the Home screen.
  3. 3
    Add your first contact
Go to the Contacts tab and tap Add Contact. Enter a first name and an email address; that's where their invitations go, and they don't need the app to RSVP. A phone number is optional.
  4. 4
    Create your first hangout
Head to the Hangouts tab and tap New Hangout. The wizard guides you through four quick steps. See the full guide below.
💡

Tip: Browsing the Home screen is often the fastest way to start. Search for places, activities, events or movies, tap a card to open its details, then tap Add to Hangout and choose Create New Hangout - the wizard opens with that activity already added. A getting-started checklist on the Home screen tracks these first steps, and you can bring the tour back any time from Settings → Replay app tour.

Creating a hangout

  1. 1
    Basic details
Give the hangout a title, pick a type (Indoor, Outdoor or Hybrid) and choose a date. Start time, end time, a description and a cover image are all optional. There is no separate location field: the places you pick in step 3 set where the hangout happens. This is also where you choose how guests reply: Yes / No, or Yes / No / Maybe.
  2. 2
    Add participants
Search your contacts or groups and tap to select them. To invite someone new, tap the add-contact icon and enter a first name and an email address. Contact groups are created on the Contacts tab under Groups - great for family or regular friend groups.
  3. 3
    Pick activities
Search the activity catalogue, or add your own custom activity if what you have in mind isn't listed. You can add multiple activities to a single hangout and give each one its own start time, end time and duration - great for a full day out.
  4. 4
    Send invites
Review your hangout and tap Send Invites. Guests receive a push notification or an email with all the details, and you'll see their RSVPs on the hangout screen.
✏️

Editing, cancelling & deleting: As the hangout owner you can edit any detail after sending. Open the hangout → tap the ⋯ menu → Edit Hangout, then tap Send Update on the last step so guests hear about the change. The same menu also offers Cancel Hangout, which keeps the hangout visible but notifies everyone it's off, and Delete Hangout, which removes it entirely and lets your guests know.

👥

Inviting friends & RSVPs

  1. 1
    Invites go out automatically
When you send invites at the end of the hangout wizard, guests with the app receive a push notification. Guests without the app get an email with a link where they can RSVP without installing anything.
  2. 2
    RSVP options
Guests respond Yes or No, plus Maybe if you chose the Yes / No / Maybe reply style in step 1. You see each person's response on the hangout detail screen, and hangouts you've been invited to show your own reply too.
  3. 3
    Join requests
People who open your public share link don't get in automatically. Their requests appear under Join Requests on the hangout, where you can Approve or Decline each one. Approved people are added to the guest list, and declined people are told by email.
  4. 4
    Add people after sending
Open the hangout → ⋯ menu → Edit Hangout → Add Participants to add more people. On the final step you can choose to notify only the new participants or everyone. To nudge people who haven't replied, use Resend Invites on the hangout screen.
📬

Public share link: Tap the share icon on a hangout you host to open Share Hangout, then Copy Link or Share it anywhere - a group chat, social media, or direct message - without needing the person in your contacts first. Anyone with the link can request to join. Links expire after 30 days, and you can revoke one at any time from the same screen.

Using Kiki, your AI assistant

  1. 1
    Open Kiki
Tap the Kiki button on the Home screen to open Plan a Hangout. You can also open any place and tap Build a hangout around this to start from there. Set your location first so Kiki can find places near you.
  2. 2
    Say what you feel like
Type what you have in mind, or pick a quick idea such as Coffee and a hike, Family day out or Movie and a dinner. The more context you give - who's coming, how long you have, your budget - the better the stops Kiki proposes.
  3. 3
    Choose your stops
Kiki finds real places nearby and you choose each stop, so the plan builds up as you go. Ask Kiki to swap or change anything, and tap See full details on any place. When the plan looks right, tap Create hangout to open the wizard with your stops already added, or Edit plan to keep tweaking.
  4. 4
    Sessions & earning more
You get a small number of free planning sessions each day, shown as a counter in the top corner of the planner. The allowance refills every 24 hours. When it runs out you'll see Need more sessions? - tap Watch ad to earn another session at no cost. There is a daily cap on sessions earned from ads.
⚠️

AI disclaimer: Kiki's suggestions are AI-generated, and the times and distances shown in a plan are estimates. Always verify venue details, opening hours, and pricing before your hangout.

Managing notifications

  1. 1
    Open notification settings
Go to Settings → Notifications. You'll see two independent toggles: Push Notifications and Email Notifications.
  2. 2
    Toggle each channel
Toggle either channel on or off. Changes are saved immediately. You can turn off email and keep push active, for example.
  3. 3
    Device-level permissions
Push notifications also require your device to allow them. Tap System Settings at the bottom of the Notifications screen to open your device's permission settings for KikiGenie.
💡

Not receiving notifications? Make sure both the in-app toggle and the system-level permission are enabled. Either alone isn't enough.

👤

Account & profile

  1. 1
    Edit your profile
Tap the profile card at the top of the Settings tab, or your avatar in the top-left of the Home screen. You can update your name, photo, date of birth and gender. Your email address is shown but can't be changed.
  2. 2
    Change your password
Go to Settings → Change Password. Enter your current password, then your new one. If you signed up with Google, Apple, or Facebook there's no password to change, so this option won't appear — keep using the same button to log in.
  3. 3
    Block a user
To block someone, open a hangout they host, tap the ⋯ menu, then Block Host. Blocked users can no longer send you hangout invitations. Manage your block list under Settings → Blocked Users, where you can unblock anyone. To report a place, activity, or event instead, open its detail screen and use the Report option there.
  4. 4
    Delete your account
Go to Settings → Delete Account, review what will be erased and confirm with your password (or by signing in again for Google, Apple or Facebook accounts). This starts a 24-hour grace period during which you can sign in and tap Cancel Deletion. After 24 hours your account and data are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. See our Privacy Policy for full retention details.
